Frequently Asked Questions
Barklay's, Shirley ocean front estate on West Coast Road.
For food I would suggest the restaurant at Point no Point, you can walk there in about three minutes and the food is great. For something more casual there is also a new wood fired pizza restaurant called Stoked Pizza in Shirley at 2908 Tieulie Place.
Unfortunately not at this time, a winter storm wiped out the last set of stairs down there and we have yet to find a contractor brave enough to fix them. The best and closest place to access the beach is Sandcut which is two minutes north of the house on West Coast road.
You can get sporadic coverage from At&t towers from Washington but we do not get coverage from any of the Canadian companies out there. We do have high speed internet and the passcode for the wifi can be found on the television. We also run a Magicjack phone line from the internet from where you can make call all across Canada.

Heritage courtyard loft in Victoria's Waddington alley.
Frequently asked questions about staying at the Waddington Loft.
Yes, so long as you are actively loading or unloading you should be fine temporarily parked in Waddington alley. Be warned though, do not leave your car unattended so long in the alley as the “meter fairies” are quick on their feet and also quick to write a ticket to an unattended car.
Do you know if there is an Airport Shuttle drop off near there as we are not renting a car?
Yes, YYJ Airport shuttle does the trip but you will want to check in advance as I don’t think they run real late. If you are staying with us at Morleys Waddington Loft you are going to want to ask them to drop you at Swans and we are a block away.
Pull down on the tub filler faucet to start the shower in the Morley flat in Wadington Alley.
As of the summer of 2019 there is now some kind of emergency shut off button for the hot water tank, for some reason it is tripped once in a while and the hot water can be reset by pushing the button by the top of the hot water heater which is located in the closet under the stairs.
The harbour plane terminal is about a 2 minute walk.
The Airport is about a thirty minute drive.
Swartz bay ferry terminal is about a thirty five minute drive.
We’re a little concerned about security at the overnight parking. Is there a parking attendant on duty 24/7?
Yes the city of Victoria is patrolled 24 / 7. With that being said please do not leave anything valuable or irreplaceable in your vehicle.
There is a city parkade on lower Yates almost directly across from the courtyard entrance of the Leiser building.
City parkade rates in effect Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. are: $2 Per Hour (charged in 15 minute increments) $14 for a car and $4 a motorcycle per day at the Bastion Square Parkade.
If it is after 6pm parking is free on city streets as well and you can also prepay the meter for the morning incase you want to sleep in. I also suggest Robbins Parking lot 64, located at 1618 Store Street.
I just wrote a post on my go to restaurants.
